Simple Sunday – 15

Hey gals and guys. I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the beauty that is a summer day!

It’s been a very busy week and while I had intended to write a couple of posts, Murphy’s Law had other plans for me! That didn’t stop me though from checking out a few of my fav blogs.

So…with that said, it is now time for the 15th edition of Simple Sunday (even though I am posting this on Saturday evening)!!

Simple Sunday features links to stories, blog post and videos that I have encountered over the week that I find interesting, insightful, telling and just plain fun to read or watch. Hopefully, you will all agree as well.

So, take an hour or so, grab a coffee, tea or other beverage, sit back and enjoy. It’s that SIMPLE! :)

SIMPLE SUNDAY

You might remember that I was featured in an interview a few weeks ago at The Simple White Rabbit. It was a lot of fun answering Christy’s questions and I appreciated her featuring me. Well, I am happy to say that I am also featured this week on Mr. CBB’s website over at Canadian Budget Binder :) If interested, please check it out at http://canadianbudgetbinder.com/2014/07/19/babysitter-mother-jailed-leaving-child-at-park/. Just keep in mind that you will have to scroll down a bit before you see a sub-heading titled Making A Difference! Oh…and he’s also a fellow Canadian, which is nice :)

My friend Hayley Jayne over at Disease Called Debt, has a new book – actually her very first book – out on Amazon and like the kind-hearted spirit she, is she is giving it away for free until Sunday, the 20th of July. Titled Achieving Debt Freedom, Hayley looks at the psychological and emotional aspects/consequences of debt. As she states:

My eBook “Achieving Debt Freedom” will help you understand what stage you’re at with your own debt by outlining some of the key emotions you might be feeling.  It will help you to recognize and admit your debt to yourself and will also help you to overcome any negative emotions that you may begin to face if your debt is making you feel stressed out or depressed.

I grabbed a copy the other day, and while I have yet not had time to read it, I have no doubt that it will be an excellent read. Go here to grab a copy for yourself: http://www.amazon.com/Achieving-Debt-Freedom-Rollercoaster-Recognize-ebook/dp/B00L9ZP2OE

Stefanie, over at The Broke And Beautiful Life, wrote a fun and interesting post titled “My Single Most Effective Money Saving Strategy: Safe Sex“. And while her post was a great read, the comments were also an interesting sociological look at how some folk feel about balancing a full life with the possibility of bringing children into the mix…or not! That being said, if safe sex can help one save money, then my having been abstinent for the past 17 years must have made me a small fortune!! I know…too much information :) You can check out Stefanie’s post here and weigh in on what you think at http://thebrokeandbeautifullife.com/single-effective-money-saving-strategy-safe-sex/

If you have been a regular reader of this blog, you know that I love my small apartment and certain small spaces within my small apartment. Well, Evelyn, over at Smallish Blog, wrote a heart-warming piece titled “3 Free Ways to Make A Home In A Small Apartment” pretty much summing my own arguments for small and simple living! Feel free to check it out at http://www.smallishblog.com/2014/07/07/3-free-ways-make-a-home-temporary-apartment/.

Sometimes, there’s nothing simpler than a tasty sandwich for lunch or dinner. Small Casa has a delicious, yet simple way, of “brightening” up a sandwich – for lack of a better word. You can see what she does over at http://simplecasa.wordpress.com/2014/07/14/sandwiches-2/. And believe me, this is something I am going to try.

And last, but not least, Bethany, over at Our Journey To Ithaca wrote a wonderful post titled “Letter to My 16-Year-Old Self“. This is a great read and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more of these types of posts popping up. They seem rather cathartic! To see what Bethany had to tell herself, drop by http://ourjourneytoithaca.com/2014/07/14/letter-to-my-16-year-old-self/. I think you’ll enjoy the “trip”!

Well, that’s it for this week folks. I hope you all have a relaxing and Simple Sunday and we’ll see ya in a couple of days.

I’d love to read what you have to say about these stories so please feel free to continue the conversation in the comments section below.

Take care and all the best.
